4-H Youth Development Agent - Wood County

UW-Extension

Wisconsin Rapids , WI

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

4-H Youth Development programming in Wisconsin has a dual focus – providing educational programs for youth, and youth development leadership for communities. The 4-H community club is Extension's fundamental model for youth programming. Other models of direct programming such as after-school 4-H clubs and summer youth programs provide program access to audiences unaware of or unable to access 4-H community clubs. In addition to these direct programs, 4-H Youth Development personnel play a significant role as community leaders in youth development.

As a faculty or academic staff member of University of Wisconsin-Extension, employed with Wood County, the 4-H Youth Development Agent is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs to meet identified needs and interests of county individuals, organizations and communities. Backed by University research, the Agent incorporates pertinent findings from the social, human and behavioral sciences into educational programs to support the positive development of youth, especially in the areas of leadership, interpersonal and citizenship skills. The Agent also guides and counsels volunteers associated with the 4-H club program and other program-related groups, including under-represented clientele in the county.

This position is one of two 4-H Youth Development professional positions in Wood County. The 4-H Youth Development Agent and the 4-H Youth Development Program Advisor work together to create and support an integrated, vibrant 4-H Youth Development program that meets the unique and changing needs of a diverse youth and adult volunteer audience in Wood County. The Agent assures that programs are based on identified local needs, with a focus on providing access to educational programs for youth with cultural, economic and geographic barriers, through direct programming and in partnership with other organizations. The Wood County 4-H Program Advisor teams with the 4-H Youth Development Agent, with a focus on providing primary day to day guidance and counsel for the 4-H community club program. Assume weekly travel throughout the counties and occasional travel within the state. Work evenings on a regular basis and occasionally on weekends, as needed to meet local needs. A detailed position description, including identified ADA essential job functions, is available.
